Let's Talk Food - What is York Region's Food Future?

Event Description: The community of York Region is home to 146,875 youth from the ages of 15-24 years old (2016 Census). The reality of education, housing, employment and social inequalities are among the many obstacles faced by youth. Living in York Region presents challenges. Privilege masks poverty as 24,700 households face food insecurity and that number could be growing during the pandemic! We called on Youth residing in York Region (Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Whitchurch-Stouffville) in Ontario from the ages 17+ , along with stakeholders to join us online for a 90 minute ZOOM session led by and for youth. The opportunity to reimagine a just future with youth at the cusp of change, York Region Food Network presented β€œLet's Talk Food: What is York Region's Food Future?” virtual keynote and panel discussion where youth will share their insight on anti-racism, public health, nutrition, agriculture and community development.
